About

Dear readers,

I doubt I will tell you anything that not a thousand other bloggers and vloggers have said before me when I write: I have had plenty of career dreams in my fairly short life, but nothing has ever captured my concentration, ambition and passion as strongly as baking has. I have loved it since I baked my first Christmas cookies with my Mum as a child – those days in which the meat mincer, to me, was something solely used to shape sweet buttery cookies. I didn’t find out what it was really for until I was well into my teens. It’s almost a little sad. But so my love for baking began as it did for most others as well, I suppose. I still love it and nothing relaxes me and gives me the same sense of accomplishment – even when everything goes wrong.

Having tried plenty of different, possibly more commercially successful themes for blogs, I have decided to stick with what I know and love and can be passionate about for hours and days and months on end. I want to challenge myself more with my baking and most importantly: I want to give myself a reason to bake more often. I want to have the excuse that goes beyond Christmas and birthdays. I am not sure how regularly I will be able to post or exactly what sort of topics I will talk about. Well… Obviously I will concentrate on baking, but I also love reading and so now and again I may sit down with a cup of tea and tell you a thing or two about a book I am reading and loving, or passionately hating. I have opinions on things and I think enough of myself that I also dare share them every now and then. I don’t want this to be a blog on which I just ramble on about random thoughts and some baking in between, I do want it to have structure and to focus at least 85% on baking. If you’re interested, do stay around. I am also going to tell you a little bit more about myself in the next paragraph.

My name, for those who stuck around through the lengthy description and introduction, is Nuria. It’s Spanish (more specifically: Catal├ín), but I am not. I am 23 years of age and a University student – although hopefully not for too much longer, I really cannot wait to graduate. I did not pursue a career in baking or making pastries, because that kind of life is just not for me. Maybe that’s the one thing that can separate me from the others, although I think there are enough of all sorts, aren’t there? I did two internships at German bakeries, which is, I suppose, how you would start when you’re from Germany and cannot pay for pastry school. So, I am entirely self-taught (shout out to Google and YouTube), which is going to be part of my story on this blog.

Well, without further ado, I hope you will enjoy this blog and I hope I’ll be getting onto a schedule soon to post regularly.

Love,

Nuria

P.S. I love letters, because I just feel like I write better when I pretend that I am writing a letter. So, that’s what the structure will be… probably…
